Dear St. Rita's Parents,
As we sail through the month of May, I want to take a moment to reflect on the enriching experiences our students have had recently and express our gratitude for your overwhelming support during Teacher Appreciation Week.
First, I am thrilled to share with you the success of many of our recent field trips. Our students had the opportunity to explore and learn beyond the confines of our classrooms, immersing themselves in real-world experiences that complemented their academic studies. From zoo and SCJohnson visits to nature trails, each excursion was filled with wonder, curiosity, and learning moments. These field trips not only provided a break from the routine but also reinforced the importance of hands-on education in nurturing well-rounded individuals.
I also want to extend a thank you to all our wonderful parents for your generous gestures during Teacher Appreciation Week. Your kind notes, thoughtful gifts, and expressions of gratitude meant the world to our dedicated staff. Teaching is not merely a profession for them; it's a calling fueled by passion and commitment. Your recognition of their hard work and dedication reaffirms their belief in the profound impact they have on your children's lives.
At St. Rita's, we believe that education is a collaborative effort between school and home. Your support and partnership are instrumental in creating a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually. It has been moving to see so much involvement in all our enrichment activities this year.
As we look ahead to the remaining days of this school year, let us continue to enjoy the moments of learning, growth, and community that define St. Rita's Catholic School. Together, we can inspire and empower our students to reach greater heights.
With warm regards,
Beth Woodward
Principal
St. Rita Catholic School

Who is St. Rita?
Santa Rita is often referred to as Saint Rita of Cascia — an Italian widow and Augustinian nun who lived from 1381 to 1457. She is known at the Patroness of Impossible Causes and became a nun at age 36 after the death of her husband and her twin sons. When she was around 60 years of age, a small wound appeared on her forehead while she prayed. The wound was considered a partial Stigmata in reference to the crown of thorns that encircled Christ’s head, and she bore the wound until her death at age 76. When her body was prepared for funeral and later exhumed over the years, her forehead wound remained the same with glistening light reflected from the drops of blood. Her body also showed no decomposition and she was declared incorruptible.
Saint Rita forever became associated with a rose. When nearing the end of her life, she asked a visiting cousin to bring her a rose from her old home. Her cousin complied and was surprised to find a single rose blooming in the January garden and brought it back to Saint Rita.
The purpose of this communication is to notify you that we will be celebrating her feast day on May 23rd school wide.
The following are some of the awesome events:
St. Rita Novena begins on May 14 for 9 days.

As part of Siena Grows, we are asking students, staff, and families to take part in a friendly competition between schools. Check your pockets, between your couch cushions, in your piggy bank, and under your car seat for loose change and bring it to school from May 13-16. The school that raises the most money per student will receive an ice cream incentive!
The coin collection will begin on Monday and go through Thursday.
St. Rita Track team has been practicing and our Meets start soon. Come out and show your support! The schedule is below:
Track Meet - Saturday, May 11th at Bradford High School. This is our biggest meet of the year - 150+ athletes from 9 schools. Field events (shot put, long jump, and high jump) start at 8am and track events start around 10am. $3 admission. The students love when there are spectators at all the volleyball and basketball games and I'm sure they'd love it have support at this Meet Saturday too.
May 13 - 4:45pm at UW Parkside Track, HWY E Kenosha
May 20 - 4:45pm at UW Parkside Track, HWY E Kenosha
Bring a chair and watch these student athletes compete in short and long distance running events. Running is hard, but hearing the cheers from parents and friends gives them energy.
My name is Michael, father of Vada (third grade) and Zeke (second grade) Zivnuska. Little Roar spent the day at my company, Milwaukee Mike Remodel. My company services all interior and exterior needs in your home.
Little Roar and I started bright and early, at 6am. We began our day going to Menards to gather supplies. Some of Little Roar’s responsibilities were remembering and applying all of the safety rules we went over, making sure all of our carpentry is level, checking our plumbing for leaks, and keeping a very tidy workspace. Remember, you are working in someone else’s home - you need to treat it as your own!
Little Roar’s favorite part of the day was going to Menard’s. She got to see so many different tools and pieces of hardware; and learn about each of them. Now, when she looks around her own home, she knows how much work went into building it!
Little Roar’s least favorite part of the day was cleaning! You are welcomed into people’s home, so it is incredibly important to keep a clean workspace. We sang a lot of songs to help make cleaning up more fun.
We had such a fun day! I hope Little Roar (with the assistance of her parents) is able to build something beautiful!
What is the MMMR Olympics? Well, this is a clever way for math teachers to get data (numbers) to teach MEAN, MODE, MEDIAN, and RANGE.
On Wednesday, St. Rita’s Middle Schoolers had a fun filled day of obtaining data to use for MMMR calculations.
TO START THE MORNING - they had SKITTLE - MANIA. Each student had a bag of skittles to do calculations with.
TO END THE DAY - students ran through three olympic events:
Ball Toss (over and under)
Hockey with beach balls
Beach Chair Relays
Check out the pictures! It was a lot of fun, yelling, and math calculations!!
