Dear Parents,
We hope this letter finds you well. We have a number of upcoming events at St. Rita’s, which should brighten our winter days. On February 5th, we will kick off our annual Heart Association fundraiser, and next week is Catholic Schools week!
We are thrilled to share the exciting lineup of activities that we have planned to make Catholic Schools week memorable for our students, faculty, and staff. This year, Catholic Schools Week will be held from January 29th to February 2nd, and each day will bring something special.
Monday - Crazy Hair and/or Class Color Day:
Get ready for a burst of creativity as students are encouraged to showcase their wild side with crazy hairstyles or proudly display their class colors. It's a day to celebrate individuality and class unity! Students will do a service activity, making cards and placemats for St. Monica’s residents.
**PLEASE NOTE THAT HEARTFULNESS CLUB IS CANCELED FOR MONDAY
Tuesday - Celebrating Our Students Day:
Tuesday is a day filled with student athletic contests, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of our wonderful students. This is the “you be you” dress down day. 3k Students may wear their "craziest socks." Additionally, we invite you to our Open House on Tuesday night from 5-7. It's a fantastic opportunity for you to witness the vibrant learning environment your children experience daily. We kindly request if possible to attend the second half of the open house so that new families can tour the school during the first hour.
Wednesday - Celebrating Vocations Day:
This day is dedicated to exploring and understanding various vocations. We will have activities that inspire our students to reflect on their potential callings and appreciate the diverse paths individuals can take to serve their communities. This day is also spirit wear and or blue/white colors with uniform bottoms.
Thursday - Celebrating Our Nation Day:
Let's come together to honor and appreciate our great nation. Activities will include patriotic-themed lessons and discussions to instill a sense of pride in our students for the wonderful country we call home. This day is also spirit wear and/or blue and white colors with uniform bottoms.
Friday - Celebrating Our Faculty and Staff (and Cozy Dress Down Day):
We culminate the week by expressing gratitude for the incredible efforts of our dedicated faculty and staff. Students and staff are encouraged to dress down in cozy attire as we celebrate the hard work and commitment of the individuals who make our school a nurturing and enriching environment. The day finishes with movies, board games, and basketball in various classrooms to celebrate the end of Catholic schools week.
We look forward to an exciting week! Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive and vibrant school community.
Sincerely,
Beth Woodward

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are in need of volunteers to help with lunch supervision between 11-12. Please email bwoodward@sienacatholicschools.org if you are interested in helping, even one day per week.
Many helping hands build community and lightens the work load.
In addition to day-to-day activities, we are always open to new members and ideas for our Royal Parent Student Association. This is a parent-led volunteer organization that organizes recognition and fun activities as well as supports the school’s need for extra hands in a variety of ways.
SAFEGUARDING ALL OF GOD’S FAMILY
Safeguarding program and background check MUST be completed before you can volunteer at school or chaperone any school event or field trip.
Watch for your child's Star Test Reports to come home today. Star Assessments are computer-adaptive tests (CATs) for pre-K—12 students that measure reading, math, and early literacy skills. The teacher can then use the assessment results to monitor student progress and inform teaching. The test is administered 3 times a year (fall, spring, and winter). The report coming home summarizes your child's scores on the test. As with any test, many factors can affect a student's scores. It is important to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how your child is doing in school. The reports are yours to keep. They do not have to be signed and returned to school. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

Thank you for all the donations for the 2023 Parish Breakfast Raffle Basket fundraiser, which was a huge success this year! We are looking forward to 2024 and already planning. After Christmas Sales are the best time to buy Christmas items for 2024. This is where we need your help! If you see any after Christmas sales and would like to donate, please send them to the school office. We will be collecting for the first couple of weeks in the new year. What we are looking for but not limited to is; gift wrap, Christmas theme items, white elephant gifts you do not want, candles, mugs, ribbon etc..... Thank you! We could not be as successful without the support of our St Rita parents!
Beginning on the weekend of February 4, members of St Rita Parish will be participating in a prayer program which Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen encouraged many years ago. It is called the “Spiritual Adoption” of an unborn child. This is done by praying for one particular, but unknown child. The prayer takes about ten seconds to say and is said every day for the next nine months. You are invited to choose a name for the child for whom you will be praying.
At the conclusion of the nine months of prayers you will have the option to bring a baby gift to church in honor of your spiritually adopted child. These baby items will then be donated to a local women’s organization. You will hear more about this as we approach the ninth month.
If your family wishes to participate simply fill out the form and the prayer card will be sent home.
