Dear St. Rita Families,
I hope this message finds you well. We have several important updates and exciting events to share with you.
STAR Scores:
Middle School Students: STAR scores will be sent home once students have had the opportunity to discuss them with their teachers and set goals for the future.
Younger Students: STAR scores will be sent home today. Please review these with your child and celebrate their progress.
Catholic Schools Walk:
The Catholic Schools Walk is tomorrow at the Siena Center at 9:45 AM. I hope to see many of our wonderful St. Rita community members there. Your participation helps support our school in many ways.
Special Trips and Activities:
8th Grade: Our 8th graders recently visited Gateway with Mrs. Maraccini to explore various career options.
K5 and 1st Grade: These students will visit the Apple Farm next week and continue some of their STEAM activities in the field.
4th Grade: The 4th graders will be going to see the trout ponds.
These trips provide valuable experiences for our students and are made possible through fundraising activities like the Catholic Schools Walk.
Halloween Carnival:
Our Halloween Carnival is coming up on October 18th. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up via the Signup Genius link in Class Dojo. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Out of Uniform Days:
Students may earn out of uniform days, but please remember that ripped jeans, leggings, bike shorts, crop tops, and spaghetti-strap tops are not allowed. Students must still wear sneakers every day.
Picture Retake Day:
Picture retake day is next Friday, September 27th. If you would like a retake, please return your original photo or inform your teacher on the day of retakes. Mrs. Lopez has a list of students who haven’t taken their picture yet and will pass this along to the photographers.
Thank You:
A big thank you to all parents for supporting your children’s work habits at home and encouraging homework completion. It truly is a group effort to educate and support our students. Please also encourage your students to log into IXL at home - their teachers work on tailored learning plans for each student on this platform.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
Warm regards,
Beth Woodward
Principal, St. Rita Catholic School
Watch for your child's Star Test Reports to come home today. Star Assessments are computer-adaptive tests (CATs) for pre-K—12 students that measure reading, math, and early literacy skills. The teacher can then use the assessment results to monitor student progress and inform teaching. The test is administered 3 times a year (fall, spring, and winter). The report coming home summarizes your child's scores on the test. As with any test, many factors can affect a student's scores. It is important to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how your child is doing in school. The reports are yours to keep. They do not have to be signed and returned to school. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
Our 8th graders visited Gateway Technical College's Racine Campus this week. Outreach Coordinator Betsy Ross provided hands-on experiences, including a career interest survey and tours of welding, E sports, culinary arts, and cosmetology. The students also learned about free dual credits available during high school and received hair-cutting instruction from Krista, owner of The Vine Hair Salon and Gateway instructor.

Come and join us on Thursdays at 8:15am at our School Masses. Families are welcome to sit with their students on the right side of the Church. Hope to see you there!
Welcome Back Mass
St. Rita Parish would like to welcome all school families back for another fun and successful year. Be sure to join your St. Rita family for the 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday, September 15 at St Rita Parish. Students are encouraged to wear St. Rita uniforms to show their school pride. There will be refreshments and a time to mingle with your fellow school families and parishioners. If your child is interested in playing an active part in the Mass, please fill out the form and return it to school with your child.
Tablesetters - Community Service Group
Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Tablesetters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others! Please fill out the form that was sent home with your child and return it to school before our first meeting.
Monthly Outdoor Rosary
Please join us in praying the Rosary outdoors. We will meet monthly from May to October on the 13th of each month at 7:00 PM at the St. Rita statue on the St. Rita grounds (near the parish office doors). Our next Rosary will be said on Friday, September 13. Rosaries, prayer booklets and assistance will be provided, if needed. The event will be canceled in the case of inclement weather. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and your friends and family. If you have small children, feel free to come for only one decade, if that is what works for your family. All are welcome!
Fall Family Service Opportunity
On Saturday, October 5 (9:00AM-11:00AM), families with students in grades 4-8 will have the opportunity to work together caring for God’s beautiful creation at River Bend Nature Center. We will help with tasks that might include: moving firewood, pulling invasive plants, putting down wood chips or trail maintenance. Please come and join us in our service efforts. If your family plans to participate, please complete and return the form sent home with your child by Wed. Oct. 2.
