Surreal Creature 6:  Color Adjustments

1. Lesson Goals

SWBAT:

1....use adjustment layers to change the color

of layers.

2...use folder group settings (for extra credit)

to control which layers the adjustment layers

will change

3...use color/value to create emphasis


2. Choose a Layer to Change

1. Open your Surreal Creature file

.

2. Choose a layer that you want to change the

color of.

.

3. Use your color theory knowledge to decide how

you will change it.


3.  Create a Color Adjustment Layer


1. Select the layer whose color you want to change.

.

2. Click on the Layer Adjustments ICON at the bottom

of the layers palette.

The Adjustment Layer Icon looks like a little black

and white cookie. (See Left)

.

3. CHOOSE Color Balance, Hue Saturation,

Brightness/Contrast

The Color Balance option is a way to get a more

natural color effect


6. Add Clipping Mask to Adjustment Layer

1. Right-Click on the Adjustment layer and choose

CLIPPING MASK from the pop-up menu

The CLIPPING MASK will make the adjustment layer

ONLY EFFECT the layer directly below it


5. Adjust the Color

1. Drag the sliders from left to right until you get the

color you want.

Remember you can use the Hue Saturation "Colorize"

option to make your layer Monochromatic if you want.


6. Repeat!

1. Adjust the color on at least one more layer so you have

TWO EFFECTIVE ADJUSTMENT LAYERS

with CLIPPING MASKS
