1. Load Photoshop
2. File > New.
3. Follow example below to name your file correctly.

4. Select the PRINT and LETTER presets and click CREATE
5. Definition of Composition in Art
Composition: the manner in which something is composed
Composition in art refers to the arrangement of various visual elements in an artwork. These visual elements can be combined and placed in certain ways to convey specific emotions, stories, or meaning.

The thumbnail sketches should be SIMPLE to allow for quick changes and easy exploration
7. Draw 4 Rectangles and Explore Page Orientation
Select the rectangle tool from the tool box
In the OPTIONS BAR set he FILL to White and the STROKE to black and the Stroke WEIGHT to 3PX (see top left)
With the rectangle tool selected, click and release on your canvas to open the Create Rectangle Options window (see right)
Option - Drag with the MOVE TOOL to duplicate the rectangle layer 3 times so you have a total of 4 rectangles.
Command T and hold shift to rotate at least one of the rectangles 90 degrees
Arrange the rectangles to fill the page
Merge all your layers. Layer > Flatten Image
Save your work
NOTE: You are rotating at least one of the rectangles so you can explore both vertical and horizontal page orientations.
8. Delete Photoshop Setting & Set Brush Tool Options
Start Photoshop, and then simultaneously hold down Command+Option+Shift to restore the default preferences.
Select the Brush Tool and enter the following settings in the options bar:

9. Add Your Alphabet Page Text
1. Select the TYPE TOOL
2. Click or click and drag for Point Type or Area Type.
3. Type in your alphabet page text (see section 3 if needed)

2. Use a TABLET to sketch out 4 composition ideas in your rectangles. You can do them all on the BACKGROUND layer or you can use separate layers.
3. Each thumbnail sketch should include planning for the placement of text & drawing for one single alphabet page idea.
4. Use rectangles and lines to plan for text instead of writing it all out.
Reminder: You are planning PLACEMENT & SIZE. Sketches should NOT BE DETAILED
