Intricate Shapes 2
1. Download Intricate Symmetry 2 File
2. Copy Divided Shapes
1. Open your first Intricate Symmetry file
2. Select and copy all your divided shapes from the 4th column
3. Past them into the first column of your new Intricate Symmetry 2 file
4. Ungroup the divided shapes: Object > Ungroup / Right Click > Ungroup.
3. Column 2: Copy, and Reflect Shapes
1. Hold down the Shift Key
2. Click on an asymmetrical shape and its reflection
3. Drag the pair of reflected shapes as shown
4. Repeat the process until you filled the 2nd Column with 5 - 6 pairs of reflected shapes.
5. Scale and reposition if needed
6. Option-Drag the selected shapes into columns 3 & 4 so that columns 2, 3 & 4 are exactly the same.
4. Create New Symmetrical Shape
Column 2 (1 in Fig left)
1. Hold the shift key
2. Click on a reflected shape
3. Drag it to the left or right to change the way it overlaps its reflection
4. Pathfinder > Unite
5. Repeat for all shapes in this column
Column 3 (2 in Figure Left)
1. Hold the shift key
2. Click on a reflected shape
3. Drag it to the left or right to change the way it overlaps its reflection
4. Pathfinder > Unite
5. Repeat for all shapes in this column
Column 4 (3 in figure Left)
1. Hold the shift key
2. Click on a reflected shape
3. Drag it to the left or right to change the way it overlaps its reflection
4. Pathfinder > Unite
5. Repeat for all shapes in this column
5. Check Your Work For Symmetry
Use the reflect tool and copy on a vertical to see if
your shapes are symmetrical
6. Submit
