Do Now Silhouette

Students will be able to...

1...use the magic wand tool to delete contrasting

.....pixels

2...use the Image > Adjustments > Hue Saturation

.....option to lower the lightness and create a

.....black silhouette

3...use the paint bucket / gradient tool to change 

.....the color of the silhouette

Create Your Silhouette File: 1 Min

1. Go to the group shared folder and find the file

named "Silhouette"

2. Drag it to your Desktop and gently click on it twice

(don't open it) to highlight the name for editing.

3. Change the file name by adding your last name followed

by your first name. Example: Silhouette Hooker Martina

Delete the Unwanted Pixels: 1 Min

1. Select the layer with Diana Ross in it.

2. Click on the white area with the Magic Wand tool

3. Check the selection and make sure it's smooth

.

4. If you need to, adjust the selection

Image > Adjustments > Hue 

1. Make sure the correct layer is selected.

2. Image > Adjustments > Hue Saturation and drag

the lightness slider all the way to the left.

Change the Color & add a Gradient: 3 Min

1. Select the all the black pixels by clicking

on them with the magic wand tool.

2. Click on the foreground color icon in the

tool box and set the color to a blue

3. Select the paint bucket (it might be hidden under

the gradient tool) and click on the silhouette

4. Duplicate the layer

5. Change the Foreground and background colors in your

tool box to two contrasting shades of green

6. Select the silhoette with the Magic Wand tool

7. Select the Gradient Tool and in the options bar choose

the Foreground to Background option in the

Edit Gradient section.

8. Click and drag with the gradient to fill the silhouette

with the gradient
