1. Brainstorm for ideas on a MS Word Document
.
2. Create 2 or more thumbnail sketches
.
3. Set Up PS File
3. Learn About Surrealism
• Objects or animals that aren't normally found indoors
• Objects or animals that are the wrong size
• Mythological creatures
• Demonic creatures
• A portal into another dimension or world
• Solids behaving like liquids
• Objects defying gravity
• Staircases or portals leading to nowhere
• Something transforming into something else
• 2D transforming into 3D or vice versa
• Something that would be physically impossible or illogical in real life
4. Complete MS Word Planning Doc
1. Create a MS Word Doc and name it
"Surreal Creature Plan" followed by your last name
and then your first.
Example: Surreal Creature Plan Hooker Martina.

2. Create a heading with your
name, period, and "Surreal Creature Plan"

3. Copy and Paste the following questions.
What will your Surreal Creature look like?
Describe arms/legs/tails/wings etc. What creatures/objects
will you need images of?

What environment will it live in?
.
Do you want your creature to be doing something?
For example: hunting, eating, socializing,
fighting, sleeping. etc.

Will you present your creature in a tall or
wide page orientation?

6. Create 2 or More Thumbnail Sketches
1. Do at least 2 thumbnail sketches for your
project on the back of your printed Surreal Creature Plan
print out
6. File Set Up
1. Review your sketch if needed. Will you need a wide or tall
file setup?

2. Load ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

3. File > New.
.
4. Name: "Surreal Creature" followed by a space,
your last name and then your first.
Example: Surreal Creature Hooker Martina
5. Enter in the appropriate information for the orientation you chose
Vertical:
...WIDTH: 7.5 inches
...HEIGHT: 9.75 inches
or
Horizontal:
...WIDTH: 10 inches
...HEIGHT: 7.25 inches

Resolution: 300 dpi
