PSCIB_10 Mixer Brush
1. Project Goals
SWBAT:
Customize brush settings.
Clean the brush.
Mix colors.
Create a custom brush preset.
Use wet and dry brushes to blend color.
2. Restore Default Preferences
Start Photoshop, and then simultaneously hold down
Command+Option+Shift
to restore the default preferences
3. Download Folder
Click here to VIEW the Lesson10 Folder
DOWNLOAD the entire folder
The folder will download as a compressed .zip file. Double click on it to decompress it.
4. Open & Rename 10Palette_Start.psd file
Open the 10Palette_Start.psd file
File > Save As
Name your file Palette by a SPACE, your LAST name, your FIRST name and then the .psd file extension. Example:
Palette Hooker Martina.psd
5. Start Following Book Instructions on Page 243 Step 8
Skip the book instructions for using Bridge and naming the file.
Start following steps at the top of Page 243, Step 8
6. Show Your Paint Tube Work
RED: Make sure to show that you used the correct brush setting. Your paint should run out (See Left)
BLUE: Make sure your work shows you explored the TWO DIFFERENT brush settings (See Left)
YELLOW: Again, make sure your work shows you explored the TWO DIFFERENT brush settings (See Left)
GREEN: Make sure to show that you used the correct brush setting. Your paint should run out (See Left)
7. Open & Rename 10Landscape_Start.jpg file
Open the 10Landscape_Start.jpg file
File > Save As
Name your file Landscape by a SPACE, your LAST name, your FIRST name and then the .jpg file extension. Example:
Landscape Hooker Martina.jpg
8. Creative Extension
I took this photo last summer while backpacking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I had hiked to, and spent the night at, a hut called "Lakes of the Clouds".
Look on your phone and choose a photo that you took
Email it to yourself
Open it with Photoshop on your computer
Save > As "10 Extension" followed by a space, your last name, and then your first name. Choose PSD for format.
EXAMPLE: 10 Extension Hooker Martina.psd
Use your learning from this assignment and turn it into a painting!

5 Pts: FILE NAMES: Both Lesson 10 files were named as directed.
20 Pts: TUBE PAINTING: One red, two blue, two yellow, and one green color swatch was painted on the correct layer as directed.
20 Pts: MIXING: The 4 colors on the palette were added/mixed as directed. The 4 colors are on the correct layer and the white circle layer is not visible.
5 Pts: CIB BRUSHES: The CIB Brushes were added
10 Pts: SKY & CLOUDS: A custom brush named "Sky" was created as directed. The Sky brush and the Clouds brush were to paint the sky as directed.
10 Pts: GRASS PAINTING: The Green Grass Highlight brush, the Brown Grass Highlight brush, and the Foreground Grass brush were used as directed to paint the grass.
10 Pts: TREE PAINTING: The Foreground Tree brush, the Background Tree brush, and the Tree Highlights brush were used as directed to paint the trees.
15 Pts: CREATIVE EXTENSION: An additional photographic image was correctly named and painted with the Mixing Brush skills learned in the assignment.
