Color Page 6                                Unity of Color

1. Lesson Goals

SWBAT:

1...EXPLAIN how to create Unity of Color

2...describe ANALOGOUS & MONCHROMATIC color schemes

3...ADD a UNITY of COLOR illustration to their color pages

4...continue working with GUIDES

2.  Learn About Unity of Color

Unity of color is created by repeating color.

See Samples Below:

The Billie Holiday Album cover repeats the color Violet. The Room interior repeats the color yellow

Artists can create more unified and pleasant designs by using Unity of Color

3. Learn About Unity of Color With Monochromatic Colors

1. A Monochromatic Color Scheme includes shades and tints of ONE color. (Mono means one and chromo means color)

An example of a Monochromatic Color Scheme is violet, a tint of violet, and a shade of violet. (See Billie Holiday album cover to the left))

A Monochromatic color scheme creates UNITY of COLOR because it REPEATS ONE color.

4. Learn About Unity of Color With Analogous Colors

An Analogous Color Scheme includes colors that are close to each other on the color wheel. To be analogous, they must share a common color.

An example of an analogous color scheme includes orange, yellow-orange, and yellow (See the room interior to the left)

An Analogous color scheme creates UNITY of COLOR because it REPEATS ONE color.
