How are Raster/Bitmap images different than Vector images?

NB Do Now  10/28

RASTER (also called bitmap) images are made up of PIXELS and are RESOLUTION dependent. VECTOR images are made up of POINTS & LINE SEGMENTS and are RESOLUTION INDEPENDENT.

PS and Paint and Gimp are RASTER programs.  AI, MS Word, etc or VECTOR programs.

NB Do Now

Do the math! How many pixels wide is a Photoshop file that is 7.5 inches wide at 300 Pixels per Inch?

Hint: Look at the Resolution

NB Do Now

A Photoshop file that is  7.5 inches wide at 300 Pixels per Inch is 2,250 pixels wides

300  pixels (resolution) x 7.5
