File > Save As
Name your file "Hawaii Layers" followed by one space, your last name, and then your first name. See example
Hawaii Layers Hooker Martina.psd
5. Open 2nd File - Beach.psd
Navigate to the BEACH file in your LESSON 04 FOLDER
Open and do not rename the Beach file
You should have two files open
(See left)
6. Follow Book Instructions Page 79
When the book refers to 04Working, that is your Hawaii Layers file.
7. Drag the Flower 2 File
Follow these instructions, not the book's
Navigate to the FLOWER 2 file in your LESSON 04 FOLDER
Position and resize your finder window as needed so you can see your Hawaii Layers file too (see left)
8. Add the Island Paradise Text
The book instructions are not great. They don't guide you to format the text so that the two lines of text are exactly the same width which is a good graphic design practice. It's a good practice because it looks so good when you do it!
Follow the steps on page 91 as instructions and NOT as SUGGESTIONS.
You may need to go on Adobe.com to ACTIVATE the Birch Std font (See Right ---->)
BUT, change the TRACKING to 200 instead of 250 (See Red Oval Left)
Find the link to Adobe Fonts (Red Arrow Above) by clicking on the arrow just to the right of the font name in the Character panel
9. Hawaii Layers Extra File
Open your Hawaii Layers file
Image > Duplicate
Add the word EXTRA in-between LAYERS and your LAST name
