1. Lesson Goals
SWBAT:
Create Point Type
Create separate type areas
Distort and Undo Distort Point Type
2. Again, Delete Illustrator Settings
1. Quit Illustrator by choosing Quit from the Illustrator Program Menu or by Right-Clicking on the Illustrator icon on your Dock.
2. Hold down 3 Keys with one hand:
Command, Option & Shift
3. Load Illustrator
3. Again, Reset Workspace
1. Window > Workspace > Reset Essentials
4. Lower Top Text Area
1. ZOOM in to the TOP LEFT corner of your file
2. Select the SELECTION TOOL from the TOOLS PANEL
3. LOWER the TOP TEXT AREA to make room for a new line of text.
(see left)
5. Create Blinking Insertion Point for Point Type
1. Select the Type tool and position your curser where the guides meet in the upper- left corner of the artboard far enough away from the existing text.
Make sure you see the dotted rectangle to avoid clicking into the area type paragraph that is already there.
2. Click without dragging to create a blinking text insertion point
6. Type in a Headline
1. Type in the following text for a headline
Help stop the spread of germs that cause colds and other illnesses!
By clicking with the Type tool, you create point type. Point type is a line of text that keeps going until you stop typing or press Return or Enter. It’s very useful for headlines.
7. Distort and Undo Distort Point Type
1. Select the Selection tool n the Tools panel, and notice the bounding box around the text.
2. Drag the bounding point on the right to the right. Notice that the text stretches as you drag any bounding point.
3 Choose Edit > Undo Scale

Make Area Type by clicking and dragging with the type tool.
