1. Lesson Goals

SWBAT:

1....PAINT a 5 Step VALUE SCALE at

......the bottom of their portraits

2....fill the #3 or #4 shapes on their portraits

......with a pure color


2. Finish Selfie Grid if You Need To

1. Make sure you have all your shapes outlines

with the value #s written in before you start painting


Paint Value Scale on Portrait Paper

1. Draw a row of rectangles on your 1 inch border

or choose a row of 5 empty boxes on your

portrait grid if there are any

2. Choose the color you will use and

Paint a Value scale.

Start with Pure Color in box 3 or Box 4

.

Value #4 = Pure Color: BLUE, VIOLET, GREEN

Value #3 = Pure Color: RED, YELLOW, ORANGE

.

3. Paint your Value scale wit the following goals:

• Each Value is DIFFERENT

• The LIGHTEST value is ALMOST WHITE

• The DARKEST Value is ALMOST BLACK

• Remember that paint gets DARKER when it DRIES

• REMIX and REPAINT Values as needed
