SWBAT:
1. Create a final observational shaded still life drawing compositionally based on a thumbnail sketch from previous assignment
2. Practice close looking and careful drawing at the space value and shape in their still lifes set ups.
3. Use implied lines, not defined lines
4. Create the illusion of 3D form and 3D Space with a wide range of values and gradual transitions of light to dark
2. Gather Supplies
9" x 12" - ish unlined Paper. If you have been using lined paper, please try and get unlined for your final drawing. (If possible)

4. Transfer Circled Thumbnail Sketch to Final Paper
Updated 11-4-20
Be sure to orient your final drawing paper in the same orientation as your thumbnail sketch
Draw very lightly. Remember the goal to use implied lines, not defined
5. While Looking at Still Life, Revise Sketch as Needed
Updated 11-5-20
Sit yourself in front of your still life so that you can view it the same way you just sketched it out on your final paper
Practice close looking and careful drawing to make corrections, adjustments, and additions as needed.
Remember to draw lightly so that you can reach the goal of no defined lines, only implied.
6. Start Creating Shapes Filled with Different Values
Updated 11-6-20
Look at your still life and look for the shapes inside your objects that are defined by values
While practicing close and careful looking, lightly sketch out 2 - 3 connecting shapes
Look at your still life again and observer the values
While practicing close and careful looking, carefully shade in the shapes
7. Continue Shading Shapes & Dealing with Details Like Text and Patterns
Original 11-9 Video Replaced 11-10
(Part about text starts at 11:40)Squinting will help you see the values more easily
Continue shading and making corrections to size and placement as needed.
It's ok to exaggerate values sometimes to make objects stand out more.
With heavily patterned objects, it's ok to only draw some of the pattern.
Text often appears distorted on objects. Draw it the way you see it. Some text can be omitted
8. Final Shading, Value Scales, and Rubric
9. Extension/Modification
Include more than 3 objects
Include more than 2 complex items
