Surreal Expression 5           Cut Out Images

1.  Lesson Goals

Students will be able to...

1...use their learning from the previous

assignments to neatly and accurately cut 

out at least 5 images

2...use an appropriate feather setting

3...transform images without distorting

the proportions

2. 3 Cutting Out Strategies

Strategy 1....................Select Inverse and Delete!

1. Choose a selection tool and make sure the Feather option is set to ZERO

2. Use the a selection tool to draw a selection around your entire object

3. Make sure you have the correct layer selected

4. Select > Inverse

5. Edit > Cut or use the large Delete Key!

Q2. What would cause the edges of your selection to look fuzzy / blurry?

Q3. How can you correct your work if you had the wrong heather setting?

Strategy 2....................Select Delete Select Delete

1. Choose the Polygonal Lasso tool and make sure the Feather option is set to ZERO

2. Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to select a small area of unwanted pixels

3. Edit > Cut or use the large Delete Key!

4. Repeat until you are done!

Strategy 3....................Lucky Magic Wand

If you have an object that contrasts completely with the background, this will work!

1. Click on the unwanted pixels with the Magic Wand tool

2. Check to make sure that none of the pixels you want are selected

3. Edit > Cut or use the large Delete Key!
