Caricature Lesson 5                               Face Painting (Extra Credit)

1. Lesson Goals

This is Extra Credit. Not required!

SWBAT:

1....learn how to create painted areas with the paint bucket by pouring color into selection areas.

2...learn how to feather facial features so that they blend into the painted areas.

2. Find and Add A Face Image


1. Open your Caricature file.

2. Do an Image search for a face for your Caricature Choose one that features (nose, mouth, eyes) that you would like to use.

3. Copy and paste the face  into your Caricature file

4. Cut it out,

5. Transform as needed (Scale, flip, rotate)


3. Set Foreground Color to Skin Color

1. Make sure the face layer is selected.

2. Select the Eyedropper

3. Click on the face with the eyedropper (See 1)

4. Check the Foreground Color in the Tool Box and make sure it is the color you want (See 2)


4. Add New Layer & Selection Area for Face

1. Create a new layer

2. Draw a selection area in the shape that you want for the face.

3. Make sure that the feather setting was set to 0

4. Make sure you made a NEW LAYER

5. Paint Bucket Selection Area Skin Color

1. Select the paint bucket and pour the flesh tone color you picked into the selection area.

2. Look at the color and make sure you are happy with it.  Pick a different color if you need to

6. Cut out Eye/Nose/Mouth with Feather Setting


1. Select the Polygonal Lasso Tool

2. Set the Feather setting to 3

3. Select the the layer with the photo of the face and draw a selection around the eye.

4. Copy and paste and check your results.

5. Redo the eye selection if needed. Or, trim the eye layer until it looks right.

6. Look at the color of the face again and change it to blend better with the eye of needed.

7. Finish Painting & Feathering!

1. Continue with the rest of the face until you are done.

8. Assessment

9. Submit

1. Save your work before you hand it in!

2. Click on the Submit Folder Link for your class below

Before you start painting on a file you should create a new layer so that the painting can be easily edited without affecting other layers.
