Chapter 8

Wisdom crying

Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. (Prov.8:1-3)

The Wisdom is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the truth in you who leads you into all the truth and gives you the unparalleled wisdom which the children of the world cannot get through the faculty of their mind. If you have this wisdom, you will not keep silence when the word of God is broken or deviated from. You will not keep quiet when injustice prevails in the land. You will definitely cry when the children of God are persecuted or when the children of God undergo sufferings. You will definitely stand in the top of high places to voice your concern. Be it a church, a secular office or an office of a top government functionary. You will also stand for truth, justice and righteousness in any places where people strive to seek their grievances redressed. When the gates are closed or turned down on the poor or the hapless people, you will speak for them at the gates. When people are denied the entry of the city where the rich and the prosperous live, you will cry and speak for them. The city means earthly provisions or possessions which are being exclusively enjoyed by a few rich and prosperous people in this world. You will cry at the doors closed for the deserving people.

Wisdom communicating with the sons of man

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

(Pro.8:4-5)

The Wisdom is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the truth in you. The Holy Spirit wants to communicate with men in this world through you. His voice is to be heard by the sons of man through you. Only the simple people are exhorted to understand the wisdom being taught by you. There are simple people, and not haughty people who understand the wisdom. Of course, there are fools in our midst but they have to be of an understanding heart. God has chosen the foolish things or the foolish people in this world and not the wise.

Wisdom speaking excellent things and truth

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. (Pro.8:6-7)

The Wisdom is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the truth in you. He will speak of excellent things through your mouth. When you open your lips, the Holy Spirit will speak right things through your mouth. Things that are right, things that are righteous, things that are expedient, will be spoken by you to the right people and at the right time. Wickedness or things perverse or untruthful are an abomination to your lips.

Words of righteousness

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. (Pro.8:8-9)

All the words that proceed from your mouth are in righteousness. You may be a teacher in a school or a college. You may be an executive in an office. All your words have to be in righteousness and nothing forward or perverse should be found in these words. Do not exaggerate your words. While marketing your products, tell the truth about your products.

Your messages should be very plain to be easily understood. Use simple words and examples to drive home the point. Do not imitate someone. Be the original person. Do not copy someone’s message and claim the same as your own. But you can preach or use someone’s message, giving the original author due credit.

The words that you write or speak should look right to them who look for knowledge through your words. Knowledge should not be partial but full. If you do not know something, you should not write or speak about that subject until and unless you obtain mastery over the subject.

Precious Wisdom, not earned but obtained by grace

Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. (Pro.8:10-11)

The Wisdom is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the truth in you. The wisdom that you obtain by virtue of the indwelling Holy Spirit is better than rubies. It cannot be earned through a formal study. It is imparted by the Holy Spirit as you obey Him and live a life pleasing to Him in all spheres. The things that you desire in this world cannot be compared to the wisdom.

Wisdom dwelling with prudence

I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. (Pro.8:12)

The Wisdom is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the truth in you. The Spirit of the wisdom, the Holy Spirit dwells with prudence. According to the free dictionary, These nouns refer to the exercise of good judgment, common sense, and even caution, especially in the conduct of practical matters. Prudence is the most comprehensive: "She had been forced into prudence in her youth, she learned romance as she grew older" (Jane Austen).

Discretion suggests wise self-restraint, as in resisting a rash impulse: "The better part of valor is discretion" (Shakespeare).

Foresight implies the ability to foresee and make provision for what may happen: She had the foresight to make backups of her computer files.

Forethought suggests advance consideration of future eventualities: The empty refrigerator indicated a lack of forethought.

Circumspection implies discretion, as out of concern for moral or social repercussions: "The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection" (Samuel Adams).

Through the wisdom coupled with discretion, you can make witty inventions in this world. You can invent things which the children of the world cannot invent through their faculty of mind.

Fear of the Lord through wisdom

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. (Pro.8:13-16)

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil which is manifested through pride and arrogancy and the evil way and the froward mouth. Nowadays, the children of God do not hate evil but compromise with it. When someone exhibits a prideful spirit, you should not keep quiet but rebuke that person with all the humility. There are indeed a number of God’s servants in our midst whose heart is lifted up. We just allow them to live with pride and arrogance. When they take the children of God by a wrong or evil way which is against the Scriptures, we do not rebuke them. We are simple spectators. We allow the froward mouth to prosper through a preacher who preaches heresy. If we have the fear of the Lord, will definitely hate evil and expose them who practice evil in their lives or in their ministries. As a spiritual man, you ought to judge all things (2 Cor.2:15).

The Spirit of wisdom in you gives you His counsel which you neglect. You want to please men than God. You reject sound wisdom and choose falsehood. You do not want to undergo persecution for speaking out the truth. The Spirit of God in you is your understanding. You cannot understand the secrets of the Devil on your own. You cannot understand the power of the Holy Spirit on your own. It is the indwelling Spirit of God who gives you all the understanding of the Scriptures. This understanding does not come to your heart through the ministry of any person. The Spirit of the truth in you leads you to all the truth. Of course, at times, God uses a human vessel to give you understanding by teaching you some truth which you could not understand or which you have been resisting.

The Spirit of God in you has all the strength to face the devil and the world. Your own strength will fail you.

Seeking Wisdom early

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. (Pro.8:17)

The Lord loves them that love Him. Those who seek Him early shall find Him. We need wisdom to interpret the Word and to discern the falsehood. We have to seek wisdom early giving all the top priority to it.

It is not only the early morning for devotion but also before the devil can strike your heart or the heart of the Body of Christ with a pernicious doctrine. Normally, we use this verse to say that when we spend the early morning hours, we do find Him. This does not mean that those who pray during night time or any other time do not find Him. When you discover the lie of the devil, you should be the first person to nail it in the Christian world so that others may escape the deception that comes through the doctrine of the devil. The earlier you nail the lie and spread the truth, the better you can succeed in stopping the devil from spreading the lie all over the world and you will find Him, the Spirit of the truth. It is the early attack against the enemy that gives you the revelation of the Spirit of the truth. Today the devil through the spirit of the Antichrist has spread the pernicious doctrines twisting the Scriptures all over the world because you have chosen to be a silent spectator and to cease to be the Lord’s warrior. You will find the Lord in His entire Personality the moment you contend for the truth fighting against the devil. When you do not fight the Lord’s battle, you cannot get His revelation. It is in the battlefield you will find the Lord. The earlier you fight His battle, the better will be His revelation to you.

Riches and honour

Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. (Pro.8:18)

Riches, both eternal and material, are with Christ. If Christ is in you, you do possess His riches and honor. Without owning material riches, you can enjoy the same. You need not strive to earn material riches because Christ in you possesses material riches. He meets all your material needs and you will not lack in any material things of this world.

Durable riches are spiritual. It will follow you after your earth while your material blessings will not follow you after the grave. Righteousness you have today is not of your own but of Christ. His righteousness covers you.

His fruit and His revenue

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. (Pro.8:19)

The fruit of Christ is His very character. The Christ in you is the hope of glory and is better than perishable gold, even fine gold, of this world. His revenue is more than your income. His revenue is unlimited and you can run your business empire by faith, with a few loaves of bread and two fishes. Your capital for investment is a seed of faith in His Name. It is the key to open the riches of this world. It is better than choice silver.

The way of righteousness

I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: (Pro.8:20)

It is the Lord who leads us in the way of righteousness. We cannot lead ourselves in the way of righteousness. No pastor or any minister of God can lead you in the way of righteousness. Of course, he can teach you the way of righteousness but cannot lead you to it. The way of righteousness is in the midst of the paths of judgment. Righteousness emanates from judgment. You have to make judgment in every matter either in your ministry to God or in your secular employment. There are paths of judgment. Do not judge any man or any matter without evidence. Paths of evidence are of three categories. They are evidence based on truth, evidence based on reason or logic and evidence based on preponderance of probabilities. At times, the evidence before you is concocted through false witnesses. If evidence is not based on truth, then you have to use reason or logic to sift the evidence. If there is no overwhelming evidence, then you have to use the doctrine of preponderance of probabilities.

Inheritance of substance

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

(Pro.8:21)

The Lord may cause those that love Him to inherit substance. The substance is not merely material but also spiritual. Inheritance comes from the Lord who is the possessor of the heaven and the earth. This inheritance does not come from your parents or ancestors. If you love Him, you will inherit what He possesses. He will fill you with earthly and heavenly treasures.

Revelation of Christ, the Son of God

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

(Prov.8:22-31)

In the above verses, there is a clear-cut revelation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The words of wisdom taught to Solomon and to the Church are of the Son of God who existed in the beginning of the universe. It is His testimony. The LORD GOD possessed Him in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. Let us know that Christ was not created by God. He was with God in the beginning. God created everything through Christ only. This shows that Christ, the Son was in God and that God was in Him. Before the work of creation started, God possessed Christ for the work of creation. Possession is not creation. A man has his mind and body. For doing a particular work through the body, the mind has to possess or control/own the body.

Christ was set up from everlasting. Christ has neither beginning nor end. He is everlasting. He was brought forth and not created. He was there by the side of His Father during the work of creation. The work of creation was made by God by the side of His Son. If we read the first chapter of John, we find that Christ, the Word was with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being (John 1:2-3).

Christ was rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and His delights were with the sons of men. Since Christ was delighting in the sons of men who were created by God through Him, Christ was willing to manifest in flesh to redeem the sons of men from the sin.

Hearkening to and hearing from Christ

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. (Pro.8:32-36)

The words “now therefore” are very important. Since Christ is God incarnate, we have to hearken unto Him. Blessed are we who keep His ways. Let us hear His instructions in the book of Proverbs to be wise in this world. Do not refuse it.

Daily you have to wait at His gates just to hear Him. His gates are always open for you. When you or your dear ones are sick or in problems, you can just pray and seek Him. The gates of the houses of your helpers or the hospitals may not be open for you for timely help at odd hours. But the gates of Jesus are always open. The posts of His gates are very strong. What you have to do for entering His gates is shun and flee from sin. A sexual sin is a sin against God.

Whoso finds Him finds life and shall obtain God’s favor. But he who sins against Him wrongs his own soul. All they who hate Him love death. In this world, there are millions who hate Jesus without any cause. They love death.
