Hating covetousness

The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days (Proverbs 28:16).

A ruler who does not understand the divine law is also a great oppressor. He does not follow the divine law but his own men-made law which is in conflict with the divine law, God will judge him or remove him from the throne by death. However, he can prolong his days by hating covetousness but God has already numbered his days. The ruler may not covet material things for himself but does not follow the divine law.
