Scornful men and wise men

Scornful men and wise men

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath (Proverbs 29:8).

A city is guarded by its inhabitants who lead a moral life. Scornful or contemptuous men are those who despise or deride others, especially those in authority. They have no respect for the divine law. God's wrath is poured on that city. But wise men living in the city, the people of God, turn away the wrath of God by their prayer and godly life.
