One weekend, I was going home to visit my parents. I said bye to my flatmates, and told them not to do anything to my room. “Don’t worry, we won’t. Have a good weekend,” they said. I knew they were going to do something, but I couldn’t believe what they actually did: they made my room into a jungle! I’m not kidding: there were flowers, plants, three whole trees, jungle animals made of paper, and a ‘sounds of the forest’ mix playing on my stereo. I remember the first time I went abroad, it was on a family holiday. I was about six, seven years old at the time. We always had our holidays in England in those days, but my parents decided to go to France on a day trip, so we went across to France on a ferry. So there I was, I was with my mum, my dad and my brother. I felt very excited because it was my first time on a boat ... finally we got to France and we looked around, had lunch and to be honest, it wasn't very interesting, but I'll never forget one thing, my father tried to speak French in the restaurant and they just couldn't understand him. I felt really embarrassed.

I'll never forget the last time I felt really scared ... It was about five years ago. I suppose I was about 17 at the time. I was with a friend, my best friend at the time. Jenny, her name was. We went for a walk from her house through some fields and down to the beach. When we set off, everything was fine, but then we got to a field with a horse in it. Well, Jenny said it was OK. I was a bit worried because I didn't like animals much, especially big ones like horses, but I believed her, so we went into the field. Then the horse came up to us and looked really angry. I was really scared, and I stood still for ages. But the horse didn't go, in fact, it came closer and closer. In the end, we got out of the field, but I still feel sick when I think about it!
私はとても怖かったあの（最後の）時を絶対に忘れません。それは5年くらい前のことでした。あの頃私は17歳くらいだったと思います。私はあの時親友と一緒にいました。彼女の名前はジェニーです。私たちは彼女の家から草地を通ってビーチへと散歩へ行きました。私たちが出発したとき、すべて順調でしたが、途中で馬のいる草地にたどり着きました。ジェニーは大丈夫だよ、と言いました。私は少し心配でした。なぜなら私は馬のような特に大きい動物が好きではなかったからです。しかし彼女を信じ、その草地の中へ入っていきました。その時馬が私たちのところへやってきて、とても不機嫌そうでした。私はとても怖くなって、長い間立ち止まってしまいました。しかし馬は離れていくことなく、むしろだんだん近づいてきました。最終的にはその草地からは出ることができましたが、今でもその時のことを考えると気分が悪くなります。
