Threats to Ferns
Habitat Loss / Deforestation
Ferns often grow on forest floors, which puts them at risk from deforestation. Deforestation means less shade, hotter temperatures, and drier soils.
In Canada, toilet paper companies pose a particularly great risk to species including ferns due to the overharvesting of old-wood forests.
