Decision Making
Decision making is a very important part of our life. Every day everyone has to make some decisions. It could be their personal, could be their business related or something. Though it is a complex thing but we can minimize the complexity by following some rules. There are several styles of decision making.
1. Autocratic Decision: Autocratic decision is called personal decision. When we need to take a decision urgently basis with a low risk then we can choose this one. Only one person will take this decision without taking any input from anyone.
2. Participatory Decision: It is one kind of Autocratic Decision. The only difference is here we can collect the input from a group of participant. Finally, a key person will take the final decision.
3. Democratic Decision: We all know about the democratic system. Yes it is voting system. Suppose we need to choose our brand new website name from multiple options. Then we can follow this style to collect the feedback from everyone. Finally we will choose only winner decision.
4. Consensus Decision: When we all make a decision, then it will call consensus decision. It takes a lot of time to collect the input from multiple groups.
Now the big question is which one should we follow? It depends on the situation and some key factors. First we have to think about the urgency of the decision. Is it high urgency or low urgency decision? Then we have to think about the impact size. Who will be affected by this decision? Maximum organizations follow the participatory decision style. It is the best style to decide anything.
