This small U-shaped harp (roughly 18-inches high) can create structures or protect against effects that destroy them.
If played by a trained lyrist, the lyre can be used to create one of the following effects.
Song of Building. 1/week [complex] When this song is played, the lyre can magically construct cottages, buildings, walls, underground rooms and corridors, mines, tunnels, ditches, etc. The lyre can be played continuously but any break (or false chord played) uses this power for a week. Each 30 rounds played will duplicate the work of 100 workers for 3 days. Materials, even if in raw form (e.g. trees, rocks) must be nearby (within 300-ft.) to form the structure. Displaced material must be put somewhere (or used somehow).
Song of Protection. 1/day [complex] When this song is played, any contruction within 300-ft. is rendered immune to the following destructive forces:
Effects/structural damage of a disintegrate spell or effect targeting a structure.
Effects/structural damage from a horn of blasting's, ultrasonic beam targeting a structure.
Effects/structural damage from an earth elemental's attacks (including up to 6 rounds worth of structural damage) targeting a structure.
Effects on purely natural terrain will not be protected unless the area supports or is integrated with a structure.
Even should the chords to the above songs be known, there is a 100% chance that an untrained player will strike a false chord per round played which causes all effects of the lyre to be negated. A trained lyrist always has a 5% chance (d%; 01-05) of striking a false chord each round played (non-cumulative).
While playing a song, if the lyrist is distrubed by any effect that would cause them to lose concentration, the chance of striking a false chord is raised to 50% for that round (playing the lyre does not otherwise require full concentration).
