This mundane appearing cloak will poison any living creature that dons it.
Description. This is a cloak of dark cloth, appearing much the same as other magical or mundane cloaks. Some (d%; 01-60) sport a hood. These cloaks radiate a magical aura of (d%) alteration (01-80) or abjuration (81-00).
If donned by a living creature, the cloak will poison the wearer, killing it instantly (no save). ie. There is no coma period.
If the wearer is resistant or immune to poison via magic, the creature must make a -4 save vs. Poison or be killed as above. This includes effects that delay the effects of poison (eg. slow poison).
If the wearer is resistant to poison via an extraordinary ability, the creature must make a save vs. Poison or be killed as above.
If the wearer is immune to poison via an extraordinary ability, the cloak has no effect and can be worn or taken off as would a mundane cloak.
If the wearer dies, the cloak cannot be removed and all resurrect saves automatically fail until a remove curse spell is cast upon the body. This spell will remove all magic from the cloak.
If the cloak is removed from the body, all resurrect saves fail unless the body is cleansed of poison using a neutralize poison. Even then, the creature suffers a -10% penalty to its next resurrect save.
If examined very closely, the examiner can make a Search (find traps) check with a -45% penalty. If successful, a small label will be found giving the examiner some hint as to the nature of the cloak. A true seeing effect will not reveal the label automatically, but adds a +20% bonus to the check.
Cloak Sizing
As a general rule, magical cloaks do not resize to fit the wearer. The GM will determine the size of the cloak found. If needed, the following method will determine the size of the cloak (d%): The cloak fits Man-sized wearers (01-75); the cloak fits Small-sized wearers down to 2.5 feet tall (76-97); or the cloak fits Large wearers (roughly humanoid-shaped) that are 7-10-ft. tall (98-00). Cloaks do not function on a creature with wings (located on the creature's back) or those not at least roughly humanoid in shape. All that said, any creature that even attempts to try on the cloak will be affected by the curse of poisoning as detailed above.
