This brass flask sports a lead stopper covered in magical runes. The stopper is connected to the bottle by a fine chain. When unstoppered, the bottle will begin to pour out smoke.
In the first round, the bottle will create a smoke cloud of roughly 30-ft. assuming the possessor is on the ground (i.e. a hemisphere), otherwise, if suspended above the ground, a spherical cloud about 25-ft. is created. Opening the bottle is a major action that typically consumes 3 segments (see the Efreeti Bottle).
The cloud provides 100% concealment and all within the cloud are blinded if they use light or heat for vision (this includes normal vision, infravision and ultravision).
If the stopper is placed back on the bottle, it must be done with a special command word. If the command word is not used, smoke continues to spill forth around the stopper.
Maximum Cloud Radius. A bottle that is not stoppered with the correct command word will continue to pour forth smoke increasing the radius of a hemispherical cloud to 35-ft. after 2 rounds and 40-ft. after 4 rounds. A spherical cloud will grow to a 30-ft. radius after 4 rounds. The bottle then slows the pouring of smoke to keep that radius in effect indefinitely or until the stopper is applied with the proper command word.
If the bottle is moved, the smoke will continue as per above to fill the maximum cloud radius before slowing to keep that radius in effect.
A moderate wind (11+ mph) disperses the initial smoke cloud in 4 rounds; a strong wind (21+ mph) disperses the initial smoke cloud in 1 round. If the wind continues, the smoke issuing from the bottle won't create a smoke cloud, only a plume issuing from the mouth of the bottle.
Creatures requiring air to breathe will find the smoke is an irritant and these creatures must relocate after 10 rounds or begin to hold their breath (the GM will adjudicate further effects as necessary). The smoke has no heat or special contaminants (being similar to burning brush).
While the bottle does issue forth smoke, the bottle is not considered a cursed item and does not affect the possessor as a host.
