This bottle stores light and allows the possessor to release it later. The bottle is made of dark glass with a brass-cork stopper and has a 12-inch silvery metal chain is attached to the bottle.
If unstoppered and swung by the chain, the bottle will absorb a tiny bit of ambient light in the area. Once restoppered, the light absorbed can be kept in the bottle indefinitely.
All special properties of the light are preserved, bright light vs. dim light; moonlight (and it's effects on lycanthropes); sunlight (and its effects on vampires or other undead); etc. Magical properties are not stored (spell effects that produce light, etc.).
A bottle of light holding stored light can release the light when unstoppered again. This light is released in a cone coming from the mouth of the bottle. The length of the cone is equal to the brightness of the light source (radius) out to a maximum of 60-ft. (e.g. torch light will extend 40-ft., a continual light spell, 60-ft., etc.).
The bottle stores a maximum of 5 rounds of light and can release the light in one-round increments if the bottle is restoppered.
Stoppering or unstoppering the bottle is a minor action (but the bottle must be in hand; accessing and unstoppering a bottle is a major action). Pointing an unstoppered bottle is a minor action (and can be swung in an arc on the possessor's turn). Swinging the bottle to collect light is a complex activity and it takes 5 rounds to fill the bottle with 5 rounds of light.
Note. Most light effects (e.g. vampires and sunlight) require the subject to be illuminated by the light for a full round.
