This appears to be a typical large sack.
A bag of tricks appears to be an ordinary large sack. If the sack is picked up and carried for 5 consecutive rounds, the possessor will note that it weighs 15-lbs. Before this, it weighs as much as a typical sack (2-lbs.).
Once tested, the bag appears to be a bag of holding in that while it outwardly appears to be empty, when reaching inside, the possessor will discover a warm, furry 2-inch diameter sphere that weighs approximately 6 ounces.
The sack otherwise holds the normal amount, although encumbrance is always 15-lbs. Too much weight or piercing objects will destroy the bag as with a bag of holding.
If items are placed within the bag, no spheres appear.
Otherwise, the sphere can be drawn from the bag and thrown up to 20 feet away (this is treated as a missile weapon and is a major action). The space targeted can always be hit without a roll.
If the space is unoccupied, the sphere transforms (as an immediate action) into a randomly determined animal based on the type of bag possessed.
These animals can follow simple one-word mental commands (as per magical control). E.g. "Attack.", "Guard.", "Follow." (Unless some other form of communication exists. E.g. speak with animals.)
The animals are otherwise spirits summoned from the Outer planes (all are extra-planar and summoned) and vanish if destroyed. Otherwise the animals last until the end of the encounter (or when combat ceases). In any case, the animal vanishes at the end of 20 rounds.
Once a sphere is removed from the bag another one will be found 1d4+1 rounds later, to a maximum of 7 spheres (animals) accessible per week.

Throwing a sphere into an occupied space (or one too small to hold the creature) causes the sphere to become inert (wasted).
Turning a magical bag inside out does nothing (the extradimensional area remains around the hole in the bag).
If the bag is destroyed anything within is lost.
