This ring grants the wearer immunity to normal fires and resistance to hotter fires.
Once donned, the ring communicates it's ability of fire resistance to the wearer.
The wearer is immune to fire damage from typical mundane fire sources up to huge pyres of burning wood. i.e. the wearer can be doused in flaming oil without harm to themselves or their possessions.
Continued exposure to exceptional heat does 1 point of fire damage per segment of exposure. e.g. standing near a wall of fire effect, crossing or touching molten lava, etc. Non-instantaneous spells or effects typically do 1 point of damage only and cannot combust the wearer's possessions (e.g. burning hands, produce flame, fire shield, etc.).
Exposure to extremely hot instantaneous fire effects (those with the ability to do 24 or more points of fire damage) are resisted in the following ways:
The wearer takes -2 points of fire damage per die (to minimum of 1).
Any applicable saving throws due to fire damage or fire effects are granted a +4 bonus to the save.
If the wearer misses a save versus a fire effect, the wearer's equipment will not be required to make saving throws unless the save was a natural 1 (per the GM, certain situations will destroy equipment regardless of the save; e.g. trapped in molten lava).
