This wand detects magical auras.
Detect Magic. [innate] (complex; concentration) When the wielder holds the wand and concentrates (as a complex action), the wand directs the wielder's hand holding it to point in the direction of the strongest magical aura by caster level within the area of effect. If wielder then concentrates on that aura for a full round, the primary school of magic will be determined (and another round of concentration will detect the secondary school, if any). Otherwise, each full round of continued concentration will indicate the location of the next most powerful magic aura. Auras will include ongoing spell effects, magic items, etc. Most supernatural or psionic effects or creatures cannot be detected by the wand.
Each use grants 10 rounds of detection (as long as a complex action is used each round to mantain detection) and uses 1 charge.
After the first round of continuous use, the wand has a cumulative 2% chance (d%; round 2: 01-02; round 3: 01-04, etc.) of malfunctioning by detecting an aura on a random non-magical object or creature in the area of effect (effectively mis-assigning an existing aura if one exists).
Charges. Wands of this type will have 1d100 charges when found. The wand can be recharged by using an enchant an item ritual.
