Helm of Comprehending Languages

This metal helm allows the wearer to understand and read languages as well as magic.

When worn, the wearer gains the following abilities:

• Can understand (but not speak!) any language heard with a 90% chance of success (d%; 01-90).

• Can understand any written language read with a 90% chance of success (d%; 01-90). This function also acts like a continuous comprehend languages spell or effect. Understanding does mean intent is understood.

• Can understand any written magical text or glyph read with an 80% chance of success (d%; 01-80). This function also acts like a continuous read magic spell or effect. Understanding does not imply the ability to use or cast.

Wearing this helm is considered to be wearing metal armor with regard to class restrictions and is similar to a helm that would accompany chain mail (AC/AD 5). The helm resizes to fit Small to Man-sized humanoids (without head protusions such as horns).
