Elves are divided into families (“Trees”) and the most common are the Light elves (commonly referred to as High elves by other races), Grey elves, and Wood elves. Light elves are the most common and will be found in any class available to elves. Grey elves are typically more xenophobic and keep to their “Faerie Courts”. These elves are typically fighters, mages, or fighter/mages. Wood elves are even more reclusive and dangerous to those entering their forests. These elves tend toward fighting and woodland-based thieving professions. Light elves tends toward dark shades of hair and typically green-gem cast eyes. Grey elves typically have hair of silver and eyes of amber although the noble family stands out with golden hair with violet eyes. Wood elves have coppery-colored skin with hair or yellow or copper and green to hazel eyes. Elves are around 5 to 5-1/2 ft. tall with pointed ears and large, almond shaped eyes. Player character elves will be (01-10) Wood elf, (11-90) High elf, or (91-00) Grey elf.
Elves are the longest lived character race, living some 1,500-2,000 years. Elves use family names, to help keep track of extended family relations across the centuries. Family names in translation are usually romantic and flowery: Starglow, Mistwalker, and the like. Elves revere a deity they call The Creator, an androgynous being whose symbol is a crescent moon.
Ability Scores. Your Dexterity score increases by 1 and your Constitution decreases by 1. In addition, Grey elves gain a bonus on 1 to their Intelligence score and Wood elves gain a bonus of 1 to their Strength score. Minimums are an 8 Intelligence, a 7 Dexterity, a 6 Constitution, and an 8 Charisma. Maximums for all elves are an 18/75 Strength, 19 Intelligence, and a 19 Dexterity.
Age. Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100. Elves have a lifespan of approximately 1,500-2,000 years.
