Contract Production
Contract Production Summary:
The contract production feature allows you to manage lots & inventory that you (or your growers) produce for a contract customer (most commonly a genetics company). You are able to track the status and quantities of production lots, processing records & shipment orders throughout the lifecycle of your production contracts.
These lots are set up by assigning them a contract customer, which specifies them as a third party owned by the contract customer.
Inventory in contract production lots is considered to be third party owned and will not affect your on hand and available product level inventory.
By default you cannot add bookings & pickups from these lots, inventory is shipped out through shipment orders at the request of the lot owner. Shipment orders do not involve bookings or invoicing, just shipment order scale tickets (on a shipment order).
If you need to be able to book & pickup inventory from a contract production lot, you can set the lot to be toll retail (while still contract production) which will allow you to do both sales and shipment orders. Once set to toll retail, the inventory in the lot will count towards your available & on hand product quantities (See adding a toll retail inventory lot for more info).
