Add a Product
To access the PRODUCTS screen: Go to the PRODUCT MASTER menu → PRODUCTS screen
Adding Products Summary:
The unit of measure set on a product is the unit of measure that will be used by default on the inventory lot and what the product will be booked in. The unit of measure can be overridden on bookings if the product is set up in Lbs, Kgs, Tonnes, Tons or Bushels.
Units is available as a unit of measure for soybean and hybrid rye products. In order for this option to appear when adding the product, the variety selected must use the Soybeans or the Hybrid Fall Rye crop type (see adding seed varieties). Varieties using other crop type names are not eligible to use units as a unit of measure.
The unit of measure cannot be changed after the product has been saved.
PRE-REQUISITE: Before you can enter your product information, you must first enter your Seed Suppliers and Seed Varieties.
Click Add Product.
The Product screen will appear where you can enter the details about the new product.
Fields appearing in pink are mandatory, and must be entered:
Name: Enter the product name.
Note: When you select a seed variety and pedigree, the system will automatically name your product for you. You can change this at any time.
Active: This checkbox specifies if the product is active or not. By default it will be set to active.
Seed Variety: Select the seed variety for the product from the drop down list.
Pedigree: Select the appropriate seed pedigree from the drop down list.
Field Grade: Enter the field grade of the product. This will default to 1.
Unit of Measure: Choose the product unit of measure from the drop down list.
Note:
- "Units" is only available for Hybrid Rye and Soybean products that are not set to the commercial pedigree.
- Hybrid Rye that is not set to commercial must use "Units" as the unit of measure.
Standard Price: Enter the standard retail product price. You can change this at any time and different prices can be set at the lot level later on and overridden on bookings.
Sold By: Select whether the product is to be sold by internal or external sales or both.
External Sales Commission ($/): Enter the external sales commission $/UoM if the product is to be sold by external sales.
To complete the product creation, click Save.
The seed variety will now appear on the PRODUCTS page and will be available for selection when creating inventory lots.
Dynamic Pricing Feature
If you have the Dynamic Pricing feature enabled, you will have the following additional fields on products:
These additional values help Seedtrakr calculate your COGS, SRP fob, Margin fob, Commission fob & base price fob.
Target Margin (%): Enter your target margin for the product.
Target Commission (%): Enter the target commission for the product.
Base Margin (%): Enter the base margin for the product.
Purchase Price: Enter the product's purchase price (per UoM).
Grower Premium: Enter the product's grower premium (per UoM).
Royalty: Enter the royalty amount for the product (per UoM).
Cleaning Price: Enter the cleaning price for the product (per UoM).
COGS fob: This field automatically calculates the cost of goods sold (freight on board) and cannot be edited.
Update SRP from COGS: Select this option if you would like Seedtrakr to update the product SRP based on the calculated COGS.
