Multidimensional analysis is a data analysis process that groups data into two or more categories (dimensions). SocrateCloud provides a number of predefined dimensions for both primary and financial accounting analysis:
Organization
Synthetic or analytic account
Document or Accounting Time
Product
Product category
Business partner
Project
Marketing: Distribution Channel and Campaign
Location (warehouse, business partner) - To and From
Activity (ABC - Activity Based Costing)
Other dimensions
All dimensions can be grouped in hierarchies with unlimited levels. The level summary allows the user to reflect upon the organizational structure or primary accounting and accounting reports using a logical branch structure. Each dimension has a primary branch and can have additional branches. This structure can be necessary if the "old" and "new" structures are to be maintained for comparison, or it is necessary to support parallel third party hierarchies (e.g. one based on Industry, another based on Category)
Many applications do not support this way of structuring the dimensions, which results in unnecessary data entry and operations. For example, if a user needs information on a branch and its divisions, and those divisions are made up of several entities, it may be necessary to fill in two extra fields (division and entity) and to define rules to prevent the users from entering the wrong entity for a specific division or the other way around..
For reporting purposes, users can divide and combine any dimensions as they see fit.
For all transactions, apart from unit of measure and quantity, the source and account currency data is also stored.Users can view the financial results in respect to Business Partner, Region, Product Group or Time.
