These rules are meant to allow the players to build characters and advance them beyond the normal restrictions from character progression. Use these rules with caution, and be aware balance may be more difficult using these looser progression rules.
Characters receive 20 Advancement Points at 1st level during character creation. Characters still use the 15 Point Buy to buy ability scores, however they have a stat cap of 6 at character creation. Past character creation the regular cap of 10 for player characters is used.
Each level beyond 1st level grants the character an additional 2 Advancement Points. These do not count towards the "character creation" caps as these bonus points are considered to have been purchased after character creation. Characters can level past 20th level for the purpose of gaining more AP, not gaining new class abilities and still being counted as 20th level for the purpose of abilities and effects which rely on level.
Alternatively the GM can grant players additional AP or use less AP.
The following things can be bought using AP.
