English -- Descriptive Writing Project -- Copyediting and Proofreading, Publishing (finally!)
Today we went over requirements for this project again and spent a lot of time talking about adjectives. Many are ready to copyedit, proofread, and get their final draft ready for publication. A few (they know who they are) need to rework their first drafts to ensure they have used the correct format, written in space order, or included enough sensory words that describe this awesome place they have chosen to write about. We read pages 320-323 in textbooks and discussed the checklists that will help us improve our work. Parents, please get involved at this stage of the game to help your child put their best work forward. I am asking that final drafts be turned in tomorrow in the hope that we won't need to spend another day proofreading and rewriting. Students have a self-assessment checklist that you can read with them. All stages from prewriting to final draft should be turned in tomorrow. We will be displaying our descriptive writing masterpieces for Catholic Schools Week, so the kids know I have high expectations. Thanks for your support! For helpful tips, refer to the textbook pages 286-296.
