News for the Week of January 7-11

In Reading this week, our main selection is a biography called A Weed is a Flower: The Life of George Washington Carter.

Selection Vocabulary words for the week are: greenhouse, agriculture, college, and laboratory.

High frequency (sight) words for study are: clothes, neighbor, taught, hours, only, money, and question.

We will be practicing comparative endings -er, and -est in our Spelling words this week. They are:

In Math, we are ready to begin our study of 2-digit addition. Please review addition and subtraction facts often at home. We will continue with occasional subtraction fact "quizzies" for those who are still working toward mastery of those facts.

As a reminder, there is no NJHS after-school tutoring this week.

We will celebrate an all-school Mass on Wednesday, 1/9 and all are welcome.

Friday, Jan. 11 is Popcorn Day for 2nd grade. If your child would like to purchase a bag of popcorn during lunch, please send $1 on Friday. Thanks.
