News for the week of 9/25-9/29

Post date: Sep 22, 2017 3:16:18 PM

Did you see the notice that came home last Friday about eTexts for Reading and Science? Your child brought home a letter with their personal log-in credentials for online access. I hope you had a chance to click around and get to know what is available.

This is the last week of our first Reading unit. The main selection is called My Rows and Piles of Coins. Tested vocabulary words from the story are: arranged, bundles, dangerously, errands, excitedly, steady, unwrapped, wobbled.

In Phonics and Spelling this week we will work with vowel diphthongs /ou/ spelled ou and ow and /oi/ spelled oi and oy.

Here are the Spelling words for Fridays test:

proud

shower

hour

amount

voyage

choice

avoid

prowl

employ

bounce

poison

annoy

appoint

broil

however

mountain

coward

chowder

We are reviewing for a Math test that will take place on Tuesday. Watch for a Study Guide on Monday. If your child is still struggling with rounding to the nearest 10, 100, or 1000, please review with them. Thanks.

The collection for hurricane relief is coming to an end, so if you are still planning to donate items, please send them in on Monday.

I hope the heat breaks soon. I have never looked forward to snow as much in my entire life.
