In Math, we have begun to practice multiplication with one factor that is more than one digit. We worked with place value models last week, and will move to the more abstract practice using just pencil and paper this week. If students pick up this skill quickly, we will soon be multiplying problems with both factors having 2 or 3 digits. Please continue to encourage students to practice their basic multiplication facts, so that multiplying greater numbers with accuracy is possible and not a source of frustration.

On Friday, 4/20 I introduced the upcoming HISTORY COMES ALIVE! 3rd Grade Living Wax Museum project to the class. We talked about this exciting project, watched some example videos online, and the kids seem really amped up to get started. On Monday, I will send home an important packet of information for completing this project. Your child will need your guidance and a little help to create an amazing portrayal of a historical figure, but please do not do the work for them. Hopefully all questions will be answered with the information packet that comes home. Please sign and return just the last page of the packet, indicating that you understand what your child will be doing. They need to come up with 3-5 possible figures they'd be happy to portray. If you have any questions after reading through the entire packet, please don't hesitate to email or send a note. Thanks in advance for your enthusiastic support of this amazing learning experience for your 3rd grader!

Almost done -- Scholastic Book orders are due by April 26, especially if you are using the Free Book coupon with an order of $5 or more. Orders can be completed online with a credit card using my Teacher Code H3ZD8, or sent to school with a check, if you prefer. I have to process the order before April 30 or the coupons will have expired, so please don't delay!

One final note -- If you haven't already returned the Naper Settlement permission form with payment, please do so by April 30.
