News for the week of March 29-31

Post date: Mar 26, 2021 12:18:36 PM

Reminder - there is no school on Holy Thursday, March 30 or Good Friday, March 31.

Because of our abbreviated week we will not have a weekly Reading or Spelling Test.

Our Reading selection this week is fantasy fiction called Horace and Morris but mostly Dolores. We will study review character, setting, and story structure. Vocabulary words to know from this selection are: adventure, climbed, clubhouse, exploring, greatest, truest, wondered. Our phonics and spelling focus this week is on consonant patterns ph, gh, ck, and ng. We will learn and practice these words:

phone

enough

backtrack

laugh

ticket

duckling

graph

tough

photo

rough

cough

clang

half

front

In Math we continue to work in Topic 12: Measuring Length. We will complete this topic after our Easter break.

Please continue to encourage your student to work their iReady Reading and Math lessons at home. They are not required to complete them over the break, of course, but for every other week, the goal is to spend at least 45 minutes on Reading and 45 minutes on Math each week.

If you are traveling over Easter break to a state designated as "orange," please let me know as soon as possible so that we can make the Remote Learning/quarantine period after return as seamless as possible. I will need time to convert lesson plans and arrange for pickup of books and supplies. Several children have mentioned travel plans out of state, but it is hard to know if it's just wishful thinking on their part. Thanks!
