This week in Reading our main selection is a folk talk called One Good Turn Deserves Another. Vocabulary words to know from this selection are: groaned, creature, armadillo, snorted, grateful. High frequency words we will practice are: behind, brought, door, everybody, minute, promise, sorry.

Our phonics and spelling focus is on the long a vowel sound spelled ai and ay. Spelling words for our test on Thursday are:

In Math we learning and practicing strategies to subtract 2-digit numbers including using an open number line and breaking apart numbers. Please continue to encourage practice of basic addition and subtraction facts! Thanks.

Students should be working on iReady Reading and Math lessons at home regularly. We do spend some time in the classroom whenever possible working independently on this, but in order to be effective children need about 45 minutes weekly in both reading and math subjects.
