HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

This week in Reading, we conclude Unit 5 with a narrative nonfiction selection called Around One Cactus. Tested selection vocabulary words are: incredible, lofty, noble, search, stinging, survivors, topic, unseen, waterless.

Our phonics and spelling skill this week is silent consonant patterns wr, kn, gn, st, and mb. Tested spelling words for Friday's test are:

In Math, we continue our study of multiplication with Chapter 11, beginning with an exploration of square numbers. We will continue to have multiplication fact "quizzies," usually on Wednesdays, and sometimes on Fridays. Students are expected to practice their facts daily. Please encourage them. Mastering their multiplication facts will make learning division a piece of cake!
