I hope all had a lovely Thanksgiving. Now begins the excitement as we head toward Christmas! The 3rd and 4th graders auditioned for roles in the annual Christmas Pageant this past week and as soon as I have more information about roles, costumes, rehearsals, and performance, I'll pass it along to you.
We begin a new Reading unit this week which asks students to think about the connection between people and nature. This week's main selection is called How Do You Raise A Raisin?
Tested vocabulary words for this week are: area, artificial, grapevine, preservative, proof, raise, raisin
Spelling words for Friday's test are:
let's
he'd
you'll
can't
I'd
won't
haven't
hasn't
she'd
they'll
when's
we'd
should've
wasn't
didn't
they'd
would've
could've
needn't
you've
In case you were wondering, we are studying contractions this week. Because the spelling words are beginning to get harder for many students, I will begin assigning homework
so that practice becomes a habit. In addition, students who take the initiative to create and write sentences using their misspelled pre-test words may receive extra credit points on their weekly test if they turn in their sentences on test day.
A couple of reminders:
Please let me know the best email address to reach you. I am waiting for this information to set up accounts for online grade access.
Please submit or turn in Scholastic Book orders by December 4.
