News for Feb 6-10

MULTIPLICATION begins! Please support your child by helping them to memorize their multiplication facts as we begin to study what multiplication means. Start small, and work your way up. For example, students should know 2 x 1 = 2, 2 x 2 = 4, etc before moving to the 3s, 4s, 5s. There are so many apps to make this job less tedious, but good, old-fashioned flashcards are still a go-to way to practice anywhere and anytime. Keep in mind that multiplication is repeated addition, and if your child can skip count, they can memorize their facts. Knowing their multiplication facts will also make learning division much easier for them.

This week, our main selection in Reading is called Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest. The tested vocabulary words from this selection are:

average, depth, deserts, erupted, outrun, peak, tides, waterfalls
