Just a reminder - there is no school on Monday, Feb. 15.
This week in Reading our main selection is a myth called The Night the Moon Fell. We will focus on the comprehension skills and strategies of plot, theme, and visualizing. We will learn new vocabulary words: balance, canyons, coral, rattle, slivers, sway, whisper. Our phonics and spelling focus is on syllable patterns. Spelling words for Friday's test are:
downstairs
football
cowboy
houseboat
railroad
rainbow
boyhood
oatmeal
soybean
roadway
outplay
daydream
none
hour
In Math this week we will complete our work in Topic 9: Numbers to 1,000 and will likely be ready for an assessment on Friday.
Please continue to encourage your child to work on iReady lessons in both Reading and Math at home. It really does make a difference if students spend at least 45 minutes each week in both subjects. We try to complete some lessons during class time, but cannot always find enough time during the school day.
Thanks to those who have donated tissue to our classroom these past few weeks. We have gone through our supply for the year so quickly, so this really helps. We have many runny noses in this group!
