Our Veterans Day ceremony on Friday was heartwarming. Thank you to all of our veterans and those currently serving in our Armed Forces for your service! A special thanks to Ms. Brodsky, our music teacher, who put together a wonderful celebration.

We have completed our second Reading unit, so this week we will do some reviewing and then do a unit assessment. There will be no spelling words to practice or new text selections to read this week.

Friday, 11/11 marked the end of our 1st trimester. Report cards will come home on Friday this week. This week marks a fresh start for everyone and we are beginning new chapters in many subject areas. In Math, we will be subtracting greater numbers, so it is more important than ever to know basic subtraction facts. In Social Studies, we will begin a new chapter that celebrates cultures. In Science, we will study changing environments. We have finished up our Nouns section in English and will begin a section on Pronouns, but first we will have a writing and editing workshop as we create How-To articles.

Just a early reminder for the week of 11/21 --- School dismisses at 1130 a.m on Tuesday, 11/22 for P/T conferences. Ten minute conference appointments do need to be set up in advance. If we have recently met and you have no current concerns you are not obligated to set up a conference, but are certainly welcome if you would like to meet. If I have concerns about your child's current progress or behavior, I have already contacted you unless I saw that you have made an appointment.
