Catholic Schools Week kicks off on Sunday, Jan. 27th at 9 a.m. Mass. We hope you can join us there and stay for Open House and the St. Linus Art Show that follows. Your child's framed art will be featured and available for purchase in the Gym.

In Reading this week, we continue with A Froggy Fable as our main reading selection. Our weekly spelling and reading tests will be midweek, likely on Thursday, but I'll keep you posted.

In Math, we are finishing up our chapter on applying 2-digit addition, and will be beginning work on 2-digit subtraction midweek. Basic fact mastery is important here, in order for children to focus on the steps when we begin regrouping in subtraction. Please keep them practicing at home!

We have completed our study of Earth's Materials in Science and are switching our focus to Social Studies. Unit 3 is about how we work in our communities. We will discuss income as it relates to spending and saving. We will learn the difference between goods and services, and the process of taking a product from farm to factory to consumer. We will also investigate the concepts of trade and barter in this unit.

On Friday, we celebrate our students with a St. Linus spirit wear dress down day (or P.E. uniforms.) The FTC will be providing our students with delicious donuts and juice (THANKS!) and sponsoring an exciting STEAM Museum for us to enjoy together.
