Makes either 8 large or 16 small pigs in a blanket
Baking Temperature: 400 degrees
Time: 10 to 12 minutes
Ingredients:
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in the butter (shortening) with a fork just until mixture resembles rice kernels. Add milk and stir until dough sticks together. Form dough into a ball and knead gently 8 to 10 times on a lightly floured board.
Separate dough into two sections and form into a ball and roll out on a floured surface into a circle about 1/8 inch thick (for half sized hot dogs, form 4 dough rounds and cut each rolled circle into 6 wedges). Cut the circle into 8 wedges. Place the hot dog on the wide end of the wedge and roll the dough around the meat*. Seal the end tightly by pinching shut.
Bake at 400 degrees on a cookie sheet for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
*Optional: Add mustard or a slice of cheese with the meat before you roll the dough.
