Makes about 2 quarts
This Philadelphia-Style ice cream uses an electric ice cream machine.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 cups non-fat milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup strawberry pureé
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
Mix sugar and milk together. Add vanilla extract, lemon juice, and strawberry pureé and whisk thoroughly. Add heavy whipping cream and mix together. Place in fridge to cool for 10 minutes.
Assemble ice cream machine and pour in chilled mixture. Turn on machine and allow to run for 25 to 35 minutes. Check ice cream consistency using a spoon; if it has reached the desired thickness, spoon into a freezer-proof container and then freeze for later consumption.
